- Analyse - BirdNET-Analyzer processes the audio and identifies species, creating CSV files
- Process - BirdNET-Pulse turns those CSV files into readable reports and charts
- Relax - Enjoy your results with a nice brew!
We handle steps 2 & 3. You're here because you already have WAV files from your field audio recorders and want to turn them into something useful.

Supported Recorder Filename Formats
Source WAV/FLAC files must use one of these timestamped naming conventions:
- AudioMoth / Wildlife Acoustics
[<prefix>_]YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS[T].<ext> - Frontier Labs
[<prefix>]YYYYMMDDTHHMMSS[+-]hhmm_REC.<ext>
The filename timestamp is used to calculate the absolute date and time of each detection.
Quick Start (3 simple steps)
- Generate your CSV files – Using BirdNET-Analyzer, Chirpity, BirdNET-Pi, BirdNET-PiPy or another supported tool. Use our BirdNET-Runner tool to make BirdNET-Analyzer easier.
- Upload & configure - Choose your output format, confidence level, and any filters
- Generate - Get your report or chart in seconds
Creating Reports or Charts
What you'll need:
- CSV file(s) from BirdNET-Analyzer, Chirpity, BirdNET-Pi, BirdNET-PiPy or another supported tool
- (Optional) Date range, species filter, conservation list preference
Step-by-step:
- Go to the Reports or Charts page
- Click in the CSV upload area or drag your CSV file(s) there
- Set your preferences:
- Report/Chart type
- Name display (common, scientific, or both)
- Optional Conservation List to use
- … if a conservation list is selected, you can just mark all results with the list status or just select to display only at-risk species
- Optional species filter
- Confidence threshold (we recommend 75-80%)
- Output format
- for Reports, this is on the page and can be MS Word (DOCX), Adobe (PDF) or plain CSV
- for Charts selection is on the popup window and can be PNG, SVG or WebP
- Click "Generate Report/Chart"
- Download your results!
Pro tips:
- Multiple CSV files? Upload them all at once for a combined report
- Filter by species name to focus on specific birds or families
- Use date ranges to compare seasonal patterns
Understanding Your Results
Confidence levels:
- 80%+ : High confidence, very reliable
- 75-80% : Good confidence (our recommended minimum)
- Below 75% : More false positives likely
Conservation status indicators:
- Red List status shows at-risk species
- Helps prioritize conservation efforts
Common Questions
"Why are some detections missing?"
- Check your confidence threshold - lower it to see more (but less reliable) detections
- Verify your date range includes the period you expect
- Are they in the source CSVs? If not and they should be, check your options for the AI CSV generation
"Can I combine multiple recorders?"
- Yes! Upload all CSV files at once – the system can handle around 500,000 records at once
"What file formats are supported?"
